choose date problem

i am a medical doctor
i have a patients data base with a field to enter a birth date for age calculation
when i try to choose a date in the BB the system show the following message "Please choose a date after 1/1/1970" and i can't enter a date before that date
i need to enter many birth date to have the age of my patients updated
what can i do to fixed these problem ?
Anyone had the same problem?

I answered your question via email but wanted to post it here as well since others may have the same question:

Unfortunately the date selector built into the BlackBerry only allows back to that 1970 date. I wish it could handle older dates. What I've seen people do is put a separate field for month, day and year (as popups) and then use a calculation to get a rough age (hard code current year - the year). Unfortunately I don't have any sort of workaround beyond this. Sorry!
