Here's the brief description of how to set up a connect direct from your Mac to your iPhone or iPod Touch:
This is a workaround if you have problems setting up sync between your iPhone or iPod Touch and a Mac over a WiFi connection or if you don't have a WiFi Router to connect to. Follow these instructions to set up an Ad Hoc (computer-to-computer) network connection between your Mac and iPhone (your iPhone or iPod Touch will be considered a computer here). Please note that your Mac will need to have WiFi capability.
- Click on the AirPort icon in the menu bar (upper-right hand side of the
menu bar)
- Choose "Create network" and enter a network name and a password (if you
want added security, check the corresponding box).
- Connect your iPhone to this network. Go to Settings ->
Wi-Fi on the iPhone, select the network and enter the password you
selected. Wait a few seconds for this connection to take hold.
- Start HanDBase on your iPhone and go to desktop connect. You should get
an address that is different than before and your mac should have no problems
connecting to it.
