Description: | The Alticopeia is a database of herbal medicine and dietary supplements to be used primarily by health care providers. Its goal is to facilitate understanding of herbal medicine by physicians and other 'traditional' health care workers. It includes data such as herb/supplement name, other names, scientific/Latin name, uses, scientific information, findings of the German Commission E (a panel which reviewed many of the herbs), cautions, usual daily doses, and references. |
Has Data: | Yes |
Has Forms: | No |
Filters: | Any may be used, for instance, 'constipation' or 'laxative,' to find herbs which may be used for constipation. |
Sorting: | Sorting will usually be done by common name, as it provides the most useful construct for the user. |
Comments: | My website allows users to download the Alticopeia for use on Palm or other PDA. This is an important development because health care providers such as physicians are constantly changing settings--emergency room, clinics, hospital wards--and must have quick access to medical information at all times. |
